What a day!!

Even we've waited for a couple of hours here at home for the FedEx to come and deliver the package (Amtrak ticket), Annabelle, Dachel and I still had fun together. It was around 11:00 am something that they've arrived here and we've waited for the FedEx till around 3:00pm. Luckily, my husband came home early and its his turn to wait for them. First of? We had lunch in Goldilocks, it was a very late lunch for us, more like a dinner for us... so until now, im still full. We ordered Lumpia, Chcken Teriyaki, and Bangus. All are yummy!!! Then, we headed to Ross for shopping, Annabelle helped me in picking up blouses and jeans, thanks inahan!! What would i do without you! It was nice having them around again, its been a while that i havent seen them, only talked to them on the phone. As i was saying to Annabelle, we're gonna go out again and have fun, who knows when but it'll be soon...

What to post?!!

Been thinking about topics to post in here, but seems like my brain is not functioning very well today. Probably been thinking a lot about my certain topic for me to report on our upcoming workshop at work, or probably i'm just upset cause i missed FedEx this afternoon, i didn't even noticed the paper they left at the door knob till my husband comes home and notice it. FedEx suppose to deliver my train tickets from Amtrak, but unfortunately they need my signature and i wasn't here at home to sign it. Darnnn!! Now, i have to wait for them tomorrow again from 10:30am till 3:00pm, and my friend Annabelle and I planned to go out tomorrow for the day. I'm just going to call her and who knows FedEx will deliver it early. I'm sure we can still go out (crossed fingers)...

Anyways, i know i've got 2 tags from sis Dezz and from sis Ice, i will do that as soon as possible. But, for now i'm just *so not happy* cause the linker here in my blog is not showing and i hope the sites/URL from my friends will show up again so i can just make a blogroll here and erase the linker thingy.

Finally purchase a ticket!!

I just purchased a ticket in Amtrak scheduled to depart on the 16th of April, 6:10am and arrives in Los Angeles, Union Station (LAX) at 8:50am. It's a round trip ticket costs $78.00 plus the fee for the mailing delivery costs about $15.00. It's kinda early though but i just don't want my husband to be late for his work. He has to drop me at the train station and probably stayed with me there till the train arrives. It'll be weird travelling alone, especially without my husband. It's the same feeling when i came back here in the US from my trip in the Philippines. I just talked to my aunt lota ( my mama's older sister) and she'll be the one to pick me up at the station. It's also the same arrival date of my uncle jong's ( my mama's younger brother) wife from New Jersey, whose been working there as an RN in the Nursing Home. Well, u probably thinking how come my Uncle is in L.A while her wife is in New Jersey?? Long story, so dont ask!! LOL... I also just found out that my cousin Laicah, 22 and her boyfriend Justine, 25 is finally getting married this monday, April 14. My cousin said it's just a simple ceremony with the family, too bad they couldn't wait for me!!! tsk tsk tsk.

Around 4:00pm, i called my mama at home and asks about their 30th year anniversary party at our house. She said it was a lof of fun, everybodys' there and all are having a good time. They just didn't take any pictures cause my brother Ritchie forgot to charge the camera. What else is new Ritch?! He always forgot to charge that thing.. but, im glad they they enjoyed the party, thats all it matters to me.

My parents 30th year anniversary!

Today, April 8 (Philippine time) is my parents 30th wedding anniversary. I just talked to my papa on the phone while he's at work. I know he's busy cause i can hear phone ringing and people talking at the background while we're talking. My papa is a Civil Engineer/Supervisor in Holcim Philippines in Luga-it, Misamis Oriental where my brother Ritchie works. He's been working there for 25 years or more and planning to retire next year. I was trying to call my mama at home but unfortunately i couldn't get hold of her, she texts earlier telling me that my grandmother is at the hospital since this morning so she needs to be there with the helper and asks me if i can call back later when she's home. My grandmother has been In and Out of the hospital cause of her condition, and i'm praying that everything is okay. Anyways, i'm gonna call back after i save this post.

30th years of marriage! Wow.. Let's face it, marriage is not for the faint of heart. You want to believe your pure love for each other will pull you through. And it does. But it ain't always pretty. My mama always telling me that to have a life long marriage, conflicts are being discussed and resolved without damaging the relationship. Love, trust, and communication are essential elements in a healthy marriage and i agreed with her. Although, there are some instances that can't be avoided in a married life, which is very normal to any couples. I admired my parents with a lot of things, the way they brought us up in a christian way of life and how strong the love and happiness they have for each other for showing us what love really means. I love them so much and i'll do everything to make them happy. My wish for them??... is to continue what they have for each other until the end of time. I want my marriage lasted for a lifetime, cause i know my parents love story will continue in me through my marriage...

My upcoming v-cation!!

I was checking the sites of Amtrak and Greyhound , debating which one to pick where i can purchase the tickets for my upcoming vacation going to Los Angeles this coming April 16 - 22. I'll be going there by myself without my husband, he couldn't come with me cause of his job but i sure gonna miss him... =) anyways, it's only for a couple of days that i'll be gone. I'm just so excited to see my aunties, uncles and cousin Laicah in L.A and to spend some time with them. Also, its gonna be my first time to go to Las Vegas. We've been discussing on the phone about our 2-night stay there at the hotel and i couldn't wait. Of course, gambling is not in my vocabulary but we'll see, i might be tempted with all those slot machines.

I asked my co-workers if they have any experience regarding those two transportations, but most of them advised me to take the Amtrak instead. I think it would be better to take the train, thats no brainer!! It'll be more faster compared to a bus. From San Diego to Long beach, it'll take approximately 2 hours and 30 mins which is not bad and as much as possible, i want to be comfortable and at ease cause that's gonna be my first time to take the train all by myself. I haven't pack my stuff yet, that's 2 more weeks to go right?? but i'm sooo excited already.

Cloudy day at the bay!

It was a cloudy day today with a lil bit chilly when we went to Seaport Village for the 2-hour Harbor Cruise. We thought it's gonna rain but i doubted, San Diego can't hardly have rain for many days, weeks or even months. We'll be having a lil bit drizzle tonight though said the weather forecaster in one of the Weather Channel here in San Diego.

The Cruise went well, although they divided it into two parts. The first part is touring in the Northern end of the Bay, that is towards Coronado - where you can see the site of the famous Hotel del Coronado; North Island Naval Station, some Navy/Military facilities, Point Loma Naval station - which is a nuclear submarine base; you'll get to view the location of Lindberg Field, where San Diego International Airport is located which is adjacent to the bay; there's several museum ships which includes the USS Midway - the largest aircraft carrier and the Stars of India - which is the oldest active ship. Also, not to mention the sea lions hanging around with each other in San Diego's coastal waters, which is protected in U.S waters by the Marine Mammal. The second part is going towards Coronado bridge, Petco Park, some US Naval stations.. It was actually pretty amazing, cause you'll get the chance to take pictures of the whole Coronado bridge while viewing the sites. I took a lot of pictures although some of it are kind'a blurry, but its worth it. It was also funny cause there's at least 15 - 20 Japanese tourists touring with us, they went as a group and they couldn't stop taking pictures in the same location one by one. It was annoying though cause they're blocking the view, we couldn't even see what the narrator's talking about. It was pretty crowded for the second part. But, all in all the tour turned out really well. The sun came out a few minutes before the end of the tour and both of us needs to go to the restroom... he he he!!!

It was i think around 1:30pm when we decided to go to the VIP Chinese Buffet around E street. I was in the mood for Sea Foods for lunch. Until now, i'm still full with all those foods in our plates, guess i won't be eating till tomorrow!

Here are some of the pictures we took during the cruise.

Harbor Cruise Excursion tomorrow!!

It's pay day today!! Wohoooo!! It's actually my days off, today and tomorrow, but i still went there to get my paycheck although its a direct deposit but still have to sign the paystab, and also had a quick meeting with my team mates for the Workshop. We only talked about what we're gonna do for the activities during and after the workshop and it went pretty smoothly.

Tomorrow, my husband and I planned to go to Seaport Village for the Harbor Cruise Excursion. It's a deluxe tour lasted for 2 hours. We planned this since last week and I'm pretty much excited about it cause you'll get to see the beauty of San Diego Bay. The ticket costs $23.00 each. Not bad huh?! We chose the 10:00am - 12:15pm. Here's the site for the Tours in San Diego Bay.

Anyways, my day went well. Its a productive one i should say. I get the chance to do some exercise, which is walking around the neighborhood. I try to eat healthy foods as much as possible and cut the carbohydrates. I haven't eaten rice for 2 weeks now, wow.. i've never thought i could survive! I ate salads most of the time, hoping to lose weight and i think i achieved it already. I'll just have to watch my food intake though and drink a lot of water. So far, i lose almost 6 pounds now, not bad for a starter huh?! LOL...

What a busy day!!!

6:30 am when i started clocking in at work and since then it was a non-stop work till 11:00 am for lunch. We had registry working with us today and she's pretty good I must say. Around 2:00pm, we had an SEA (Service Excellence Award) meeting for the workshop to be held at the lower level building. We call it a DO IT meeting, where we share to our fellow employees/administrators/staff on what we've learned during our 2-day workshop in Carlsbad, last January this year. I was assigned on the second part of the topic, which i know i've got to study and asks more information from our ambassadors at work. It's not gonna fun with me im pretty sure of that cause i'm not used to of talking in public where people locked eyes on you, listening to every detail of what you about to say in front. I can't imagine myself speaking in front of around 20 - 30 people, but i have no choice but to do it. It'll be an experience for me i should say, how long was it the last time i spoke in front of many people??? during high school days? college days?? Geezz, thats ages ago!!! But, i gotta build my self confidence and the main thing is, I am proud that i was one of the choosen people at work who has given this opportunity and I am thankful to God for that...

I was checking on the internet about schools around San Diego for Nursing Program. I was planning to go back to school again and proceed to LVN (License Vocational Nursing) but i gotta made up my mind cause i'm working full time and i have to adjust my schedule for that. I talked to my supervisor at work about my plans and she agreed with me to proceed to LVN, its the most demanding job here in the US, and it pays good money! I was browsing the school's sites and i was shocked when i found out that the tuition fees ranges from $15,000 - $25,000!!! Gossh, how i wish to go back to the Philippines and study there. It'll be more cheaper. What if i study there, will it be affecting my application for Citizenship here in the US?? I signed up 3 - 4 schools already and 2 of them catched my attention, UEI ( United Education Institute), and Concorde Career Institute. We'll see what happend...

A rice shortage??

I've been following the news about the rice shortage in the Philippines. For the past few days as i've watched the news, the problems are getting worst and the Philippine Goverment couldn't do much about it. They blame rising of fuel and fertilizer expenses as well as crops with diseases, pests and climate change. Adding to the latest Philippine headache, the prices of corn, meat, and cooking oil have also risen. The higher prices have already sparked protests in the Philippines, where a government official has asked the public to save leftover rice. Rice is the most important food commodity in the Philippines; a shortage would mean hundreds of thousands, if not millions of Filipinos going hungry. So, is there a rice shortage?? If there is, the people should be told frankly that there is a shortage. Many of us filipinos, can go without meat, pork, chicken, fish and vegetables. Poor people in the Philippines are content to have just steaming rice on which water and salt or patis have been sprinkled for their one or two meals of the day. But, its the worst kind of deprivation to have to go for days without rice...

Philippines is one of the world's biggest importer of rice. It is grown on a third of the Philippines' agricultural land and supports about half of the country’s 10 million agricultural workers. The neediest hit the hardest... If your family misses a meal, you really don't know what you can do.
